Overview
Berry season has begun in southern Appalachia and one of our favorite ways to enjoy the freshness of late spring and summer is the aroma of a fresh pie cooling on the windowsill.
Join Mae as she walks you through the process of creating your own dough, working with the sunshine warmed berries, all the way through till it crosses the taste buds. As the growing season can vary here in our neck of the woods, our hope is for you to begin by picking your own berries, but if nature has other plans we will still have plenty of our fresh garden goodness for y'all to make pies.
And as an added treat, Mae will show you how to make homemade ice cream to go with it! Y'all come and enjoy a taste of summer and leave with the knowledge and recipes that have been passed down in these hills and hollers for generations, and a pie that you created to bake at home.
